Setting Straight The “Jews Right of Possession” Question

I know a lot has been written on this topic, however, let’s go through it one more time, as obviously the Nations that Rage (which is currently almost all nations) against Israel, STILL DON’t GET IT!!

First of all, a little background - the Hebrew Bible mentions Jerusalem 669 times and Zion 154 times -  823 times in total.  The Bible also refers to Jerusalem or Israel as “Judah” when referring to a people or place, verses the individual person [the person was the fourth son of Jacob and Leah, and the founder of the Israelite Tribe of Judah].

Jerusalem…AKA Zion…AKA Judah

Zion [Zi·on] - In the Old Testament, the name Zion frequently refers to Jerusalem as a whole.  Jerusalem and Zion have been synonymous throughout  the centuries, in King David's time; in the early Prophets; in late poetical writings; in the Apocrypha; and in Christian times. ~ Concise Encyclopedia.

Judah [Ju·dah] - Judah is a term used for the mountainous southern part of the historic Land of Israel.  Judah emerged as a state probably no earlier than the 9th century BC. In the 7th century BC, Jerusalem became the capital of the kingdom. ~ Wikipedia

Hot off the news press are the following reports:

The Fight for Jerusalem is On!

Months of constant Arab rioting on the Temple Mount and throughout the eastern parts of Jerusalem, as well as a spate of recent terrorist attacks, all point to the undeniable fact that the battle for Jerusalem has begun…Jerusalem is not just another Israeli city, Jerusalem is the heart and soul of the Jewish people…it represents the very core of Jewish identity…Arabs are turning up the heat in Jerusalem - they’re now going for the jugular and challenging Israel over Jerusalem…

Abbas - Jerusalem belongs to us!

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas warned Tuesday that he and fellow Palestinians would not allow Jews to “contaminate” the Temple Mount, adding that allowing Jewish prayer at the site WOULD RESULT IN A GLOBAL “RELIGIOUS WAR.” …well he is correct on this point …He further stated that no Muslim or Christian would ever recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. “The Muslim and Christian worlds will never accept Israel’s claims that Jerusalem belongs to them.  The Jerusalem that was occupied in 1967 “BELONGS TO US,” Abbas declared…let’s check what the God of Israel has to say about that in His Word below…Abbas promised that he would present a resolution to the UN Security Council by the end of this month to force Israel to withdraw from parts of Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria by November 2016. He said that “no pressure” would deter him…

Many many other similar stories of late (too many to post) have the same message - and have been commented on in frequent Watchman’s View commentaries for the last several years.  However, very recent developments indicate things are heating up again and it appears the Third Intifada has Begun…  Israel is surrounded by its self-proclaimed enemies, who have openly stated, for all the world to hear, they want to wipe Israel off the map and take full control of Jerusalem – YES, as stated in the first article title above The Fight for Jerusalem is On!

However, should that be of any surprise?  The Hebrew Prophet Zechariah over 2,500 years ago told the world through the written Word for hundreds of years, that this was coming:

“Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of drunkenness to all the surrounding peoples, when they lay siege against Judah and Jerusalem. And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it”  Zechariah 12:2-3 …is this not what Israel is right on the edge of now, at this very time in history?

Psalms 2:1-5 asks the question, states the issue and sums up the coming action:

“Why do the nations conspire, and the peoples plot in vain?

The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together,

against the LORD and his anointed, saying,

"Let us burst their bonds asunder, and cast their cords from us."

…The God of Israel’s response…”He who sits in the heavens laughs; the LORD has them in derision.

Then he will speak to them in his wrath, and terrify them in his fury”

In discussing Jerusalem, and in answering the question of Psalm 2, history matters…and if you take the time to read a very well written historical perspective of Jerusalem (the accurate truth for a change) you will clearly see how we are where we are today - see the follow webpage: …[be sure to read both pages of this link].

So, back to the Title Settling Straight The “Jews Right of Possession” Question

What does the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob have to say about the Land of Israel and its Capital Jerusalem? …and keep in mind Abraham's son Ishmael is the father of the current Arab Nation raging against Israel.

Regarding the issue of the Land, the Bible [“God’s Word”] says in Genesis 15 that the Land currently in question, is the promise from God to Abraham. The book of Deuteronomy states twenty-five times that the Land is a gift to the people of Israel from the Lord (Deuteronomy 1:20, 25; 2:29; 3:20; 4:40; 5:16)…THIS IN AND OF ITSELF ESTABLISHES THE JEWS RIGHT OF POSSESSION!...FOREVER!

Ezekiel 11:14-17 states: “Again the word of the Lord came to me, saying, Son of man, your brethren, your relatives, your countrymen, and all the house of Israel in its entirety, are those about whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem have said, ‘Get far away from the Lord; THIS LAND HAS BEEN GIVEN TO US AS A POSSESSION.  Therefore say, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Although I have cast them far off among the Gentiles, and although I have scattered them among the countries [the Jewish Disporia began with the 6th century B.C. conquest of the ancient Kingdom of Judah by Babylon], yet I shall be a little sanctuary for them in the countries where they have gone.”’ Therefore say, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “I will gather you from the peoples, assemble you from the countries where you have been scattered, and I WILL GIVE YOU THE LAND OF ISRAEL.” …WELL, CAN IT BE ANY CLEARER?   The re-gathering was also prophesied by the Prophet Ezekiel over 2,500 year ago in Ezekiel 37 it refers to the dry bones taking on flesh and living again “I will put My Spirit in you, and you shall live, and I will place you in your own land. Then you shall know that I, the Lord, have spoken it and performed it,” says the Lord” Ezekiel 37:14.

On November 2, 1917 the Balfour Declaration was issued expressing British support for a Jewish "national home" in Palestine.  It was the culmination of a long tradition in Britain that supported restoration of the Jews to their own land for philosophical, religious and imperialistic motives.  The Zionist movement had thus been founded to create a national home for the Jews, secured by international law…When the Balfour Declaration was drafted there was no Palestinian nation!

On the day the British Mandate over Palestine expired - May 14, 1948 - the Jewish People's Council gathered at the Tel Aviv Museum and approved a proclamation, declaring the establishment of the State of Israel…   At least 10 Bible prophecies were fulfilled when Israel became an independent, united nation for the second time in history, and for the first time in 2,900 years – see …this has been sited by many Biblical scholars as the verification and fulfillment of the single biggest end-times sign!

In 1980, Israel’s parliament, the Knesset, passed the Basic Law: Jerusalem, Capital of Israel. The law states “Jerusalem, complete and unified, is the capital of Israel.” This Basic Law also asserts that Jerusalem is “the seat of the President of the State, the Knesset, the Government, and the Supreme Court.”  In 1980, Israel’s parliament, the Knesset, passed the Basic Law: Jerusalem, Capital of Israel. The law states “Jerusalem, complete and unified, is the capital of Israel.” This Basic Law also asserts that Jerusalem is “the seat of the President of the State, the Knesset, the Government, and the Supreme Court.” …

Regardless of what God has said, International law has mandated, and the Jewish Nation has declared, “the nations conspire, and the peoples plot” for the destruction of Israel, and the confiscation of Israel’s God given right to the Land, with Jerusalem as its Eternal Capital.  The Fight for the Land and Jerusalem is On and the God of Israel has something to say about that…In spite of the current Intifada and the strong nations surrounding Israel (some with biological, chemical and nuclear weapons) plotting to destroy her, and in spite of world religions, political powers and ethnic groups, who seek to take away Israel’s Land, the real landlord of Israel and Jerusalem – the one who has stated that Israel is the Apple of His Eye (Zechariah 2:8) seems, for the most part, to be quiet, and restrained for the moment, unmoved by the plotting of men.  However, Yahweh, the God of Israel, promises to clearly and decisively insert himself into the picture…

“Thus says the Lord of hosts: I am zealous for Jerusalem And for Zion with great zeal.”  Zechariah 1:14

“Thus says the Lord, who stretches out the heavens, lays the foundation of the earth, and forms the spirit of man within him: “Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of drunkenness to all the surrounding peoples, when they lay siege against Judah and Jerusalem. And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it. In that day,” says the Lord, “I will strike every horse with confusion, and its rider with madness; I will open My eyes on the house of Judah, and will strike every horse of the peoples with blindness. And the governors of Judah shall say in their heart, ‘The inhabitants of Jerusalem are my strength in the Lord of hosts, their God.’ In that day I will make the governors of Judah like a firepan in the woodpile, and like a fiery torch in the sheaves; they shall devour all the surrounding peoples on the right hand and on the left, but Jerusalem shall be inhabited again in her own place – Jerusalem” ~ Zechariah 12:1-8

“The Lord also will ROAR from Zion,

And utter His voice from Jerusalem;

The heavens and earth will shake;

But the Lord will be a shelter for His people,

And the strength of the children of Israel.” Joel 3:16

“The God of Israel will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem” Zechariah 12:9

So Whose Jerusalem is it?

>  Years that Jerusalem has been the capital of the Jewish People: (3, 000).

>  Number of times Jerusalem is mentioned in the Hebrew bible: (669).

>  City to which all Jews are required to make pilgrimage: (Jerusalem).

>  Years that Jerusalem has been the capital of any Muslim or Arab people: (0).

>  Number of times Jerusalem is mentioned in the Koran: (0).

>  City to which all Muslims are enjoined to make pilgrimage: (Mecca)

>  Religious Jews throughout the world recite their prayers 3 times a day while facing toward Jerusalem.

>  Muslims throughout the world, when they recite their prayers, face toward Mecca

The parallel between Mecca and Jerusalem offers the basis of a solution, as Sheikh Palazzi wisely wrote:

“separation in directions of prayer is a mean to decrease possible rivalries in management of Holy Places. For those who receive from Allah the gift of equilibrium and the attitude to reconciliation, it should not be difficult to conclude that, as no one is willing to deny Muslims a complete sovereignty over Mecca, from an Islamic point of view -notwithstanding opposite, groundless propagandistic claims - there is not any sound theological reason to deny an equal right of Jews over Jerusalem.” …how profound!

To back up this view, Palazzi sites several always neglected passages in the Qur'an:  1)  Qur'an 5:22-23 quotes Moses instructing the Jews to "enter the Holy Land (al-ard al-muqaddisa) which God has assigned unto you;" 2) Qur'an 17:104 has God Himself making the same point: "We said to the Children of Israel: 'Dwell securely in the Land;'" 3) Qur'an 2:145 states that the Jews "would not follow your qibla; nor are you going to follow their qibla," indicating a recognition of the Temple Mount as the Jews' direction of prayer. "God himself is saying that Jerusalem is as important to Jews as Mecca is to Moslems," Palazzi concludes.

In Jeremiah 31:3, God (not Allah) tells Jeremiah that He loves Israel with an everlasting love!

Jerusalem will forever remain the united capital of the Jewish people, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has vowed…  “We will protect Jerusalem, because Israel without Jerusalem is like a body without a heart,” the prime minister said. “On this hill, 45 years ago, the united heart of our people began to beat again, with full power. Our heart will never be divided again.”…“Our generation had a great privilege - we saw the words of the prophets come true,” he declared. “We saw the rise of Zion, the return of Jewish sovereignty in the Land of Israel, the in-gathering of the exiles, and our return to Jerusalem.” …just as Ezekiel 37 stated would take place!

Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu also hammered home the correct message in a recent address to the United Nations General Assembly [answering in part the question of Psalm 2 “Why do the nations conspire, and the peoples plot in vain?]

“ISIS and Hamas are branches of the same poisonous tree,” Netanyahu said. “When it comes to their ultimate goals, Hamas is ISIS and ISIS is Hamas.” There is very little difference between them, he emphasized. Both those groups as well as Hezbollah, Iran and other terrorist entities and supporters “all share a fanatic ideology. They seek to create ever expanding enclaves of militant Islam - where there is no freedom, or tolerance.”  When it comes to Israel, Netanyahu said, the goal is the same: destruction of the Jewish State. …

The record is crystal clear and irrefutable, THE JEWISH NATION HAS THE ABSOLUTE RIGHT OF POSSESSION TO THE LAND, AND TO GOD’S ETERNAL CAPITAL JERUSALEM.   Unfortunately (however it is prophesied) a series of great wars are coming to this epicenter and I believe Israel will, by the power of Almighty God, expand her borders to closely align with the Abrahamic Covenant borders which God promised Israel - See  The regional Wars spoken of in Psalms 83, Jeremiah 49, Isaiah 17 & 19, Ezekiel 35, Zephaniah 2:4-15, Zechariah 12:1-9 will conclude in a massive and overwhelming Israeli victory, resulting in the reestablishment of a greater Nation of Israel.  Then, living in peace and security for a time, it sets the stage and becomes the likely impetus (along with the Gas & Oil “hook in the jaw”) for Russia to lead the Ezekiel 38 & 39 War against Israel, which God visibly and dramatically intercedes and utterly destroys this confederacy of Islamic Nations.  My belief is, at this point, the Daniel 9:27 covenant will be confirmed, and for the purpose of protecting the remaining Arab nations from the threat of Israel’s further expansion - not necessarily to protect Israel!  ...With what is going on right now, what we are watching with our own eyes, indicates we are at the very door-step of the fulfillment of these very significant prophetic events!

Since Daniel 9:27 starts the Tribulation and the Rapture of the Church occurs before the beginning of Jacobs Trouble (and maybe a significant Gap of time before – see, then how close might we be to our redemption?

"Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near."  Luke 21:28
