One World Government
The reformation of Israel on May 14, 1948 was the most important prophetic event of our day and age. It was the event that marked the start of God’s prophetic clock. The second most important event was the formation of a European confederation known as The European Union. Both of these momentous events give us a loud and clear warning that we are on the very threshold of the Rapture, Tribulation, and the Lord’s return.
The biblical significance of this momentous development in Europe has been widely recognized by students of Bible prophecy. For example, commenting on the signs of the times that point to the Lord’s soon return, Dr. S. Franklin Logsdon wrote:
The present statehood of Israel is a powerful indication of the ending of the age. The Ecumenical Movement is another. Perhaps equal to either of these is the European Common Market with its many implications . . . it is an economic community, a breaking down of national barriers, a getting together on certain common bases. The whole idea is to reshape the face of Europe. This was attempted by Caesar, by Napoleon, and by Hitler, but their means to this end were not subtle or as workable as those proposed by the Common Market. They used ammunition; today’s promoters use bread. And let it be said that the reshaping of the face of Europe approximates the kingdom to arise out of the old Roman Empire — the last Gentile power.
Those words were written in 1973, long before the European Economic Community had evolved into the European Union.
EU – The Revived Roman Empire
Most observers of the "New World Order" and the trend toward a global government, tend to assume that it will emerge from the United Nations. Many European leaders however have noted that Europe views the U.N. with some disdain. They view the U.N. as an American venture, domiciled on U.S. soil, sponsored by the Rockefellers, and they frequently point to its unblemished track record of failure. They, too, assume that an eventual global government will emerge but that it will be Euro-centered.
Since the rebirth of the nation of Israel in 1948, we have witnessed the early stages of the revived Roman Empire. In 1948 The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) was created to defend Western Europe against the threat from the Soviet Union. In 1957 The European Community was founded, with its policies being strengthened by the establishment of the European Union in 1993.
The EU today is currently made up of twenty-seven member states, including several nations from the former Eastern Bloc. The EU very much resembles the Roman Empire during the days of Christ. It is almost as if God has turned back the hands of time to the spiritual and political situation as it existed two millenniums ago. Then Rome was allied with or had conquered all the territory of Europe and the nations surrounding the Mediterranean Sea. But Rome was never able to conquer the Parthian Empire, which occupied the area of present day Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, and Saudi Arabia.
Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream & Daniel’s Dream
The question is, can we find this newly emerging power bloc in Scriptures? Yes, we can. Chapters 2 and 7 of Daniel are where the European sign is revealed. We are told that the prophecies given to Daniel in these chapters relate to “the latter days” (Daniel 2:28), “to what would take place in the future” (Daniel 2:29). Daniel’s prophecies are based upon a dream which God gave to Nebuchadnezzar (Daniel 2:31-35). Interpreting that dream, Daniel concluded that it revealed a succession of Gentile empires, beginning with the Babylonian Empire, followed by Medo-Persia, Greece, and Rome (Daniel 2:36-40).
The last Gentile world empire will be a confederation of nations (Daniel 2:41-43) that will arise out of the old Roman Empire (Daniel 7:7-8). And out of that confederation, the Antichrist will arise, using the revived Roman Empire as his base to conquer the world (Daniel 7:8, Daniel 7:23-25). But this final Gentile empire will be short-lived, for it will be suddenly crushed by the return of the Messiah who will “set up a kingdom which will never be destroyed” (Daniel 2:44).
In the Scriptures, following Daniel’s interpreting Nebuchadnezzar’s dream of a statue that was made of different metals, Daniel was lying on his bed asleep where received a dream filled with unusual visions (Daniel 7:1). This dream was given to him by God. He saw “the four winds of heaven whipping into frenzy the “great sea,” out of which came four unusual beasts (Daniel 7:2-3).
Both the statue of Nebuchadnezzar’s dream and the beast from Daniel’s dream are the same thing. They are both given by God and they are both a complete overview of the kingdoms to come on earth all the way up till the end of human history. Daniel’s vision from God of the beasts gives us little more information, so let’s look closer at the details of the beasts. (The below chart shows the correlation between the parts of the statue from Nebuchadnezzar’s dream and the beasts of Daniel’s dream)

The First Beast
The first beast looked "like a lion with the wings of an eagle". It symbolizes strength and swiftness (Daniel 7:4). Archeologists have discovered that the symbol of Babylon was the winged lion, which is also attested to in scripture (Jeremiah 50:17, Ezekiel 17:3, 12). The lion's wings were "plucked… and it was made to stand on two feet… and it was given a human mind" (Daniel 7:4). These metaphors represent the insanity of Nebuchadnezzar as well as his change of heart toward God.
The Second Beast
The second beast resembled a lopsided bear with three ribs in its mouth (Daniel 7:5). It has two legs that were short than the others. This indicated that the Persians, though rising later, would dominate the Medes in thier united Kingdome. Throughout the Bible, the bears are known for their aggressive and carnivorous behavior (2 Samuel 17:8, 2 Kings 2:24, Hosea 13:8). The meaning of the three ribs in the bears mouth is uncertain, but it is certain that the Medo-Persians were ferocious as they gobbled up territory (Isaiah 13:15-18).
The Third Beast
The third beast looked like a leopard with four wings and four heads (Daniel 7:6). In the Bible leopards are depicted as swift (Habakkuk 1:8) and cunning (Jeremiah 5:6, Hosea 13:7). This reflects the manner in which Alexander the Great and the Greeks conquered the Medo-Persian Empire and then the world. After the death of Alexander in 323 BC, his kingdom was divided among four generals (Daniel 8:8, 21-22).
The Fourth Beast
The fourth beast was unlike anything Daniel had ever seen before. It was dreadful and terrifying and extremely strong (Daniel 7:7). Its teeth were large and like iron, and it “devoured and crushed and trampled down” the other beast. The beast represented the Roman Empire, which destroyed Greece and conquered a wider range of territory than any of those who had come before.
On the fourth beast’s head were ten horns, representing ten kings or kingdoms (Daniel 7:7, 23-24). While Daniel was pondering the ten horns, an eleventh horn, a “little one,” begin to emerge from the midst of the others, uprooting three of the horns. The little horn was intelligent and had a mouth from which it blasphemed God (Daniel 7:8). It represented the Antichrist with the 10 horns representing the rise of the new Roman Empire and its eventual ruling body of 10 leaders.
EU – The Revived Roman Empire
Alan Franklin (a British newspaperman) wrote:
What is emerging in Europe is a new Holy European Empire, an attempt to resurrect the old Holy Roman Empire that existed under the Pope. This is becoming increasingly blatant. The Vatican is playing a major role in the creation of the new European Empire, and Catholic social values — so-called “Christian Socialism” — is at its heart. The present Pope has repeatedly called for religious unity in Europe. This means a united, Catholic Europe, which was consecrated to Mary by the Vatican in 1309.
When I visited Strasbourg, the French city near the German border which, with Brussels, co-hosts the European Parliament, I was introduced to the head of the house of Habsburg, Otto von Habsburg, a man whose family dominated Europe for centuries. Full of charm and intelligence, he said that instead of war, a great new Europe could be built on peaceful cooperation. His ideas go far beyond this, however. In his book, The Social Order of Tomorrow, he writes:
Now we do possess a European symbol which belongs to all nations equally. This is the crown of the Holy Roman Empire, which embodies the tradition of Charlemagne; the ruler of a united accident...the Crown represents not merely the sovereignty of the monarch, but also the ties between authority and the people. True, it is the monarch who is crowned, but in this sacred act he appears as the representative of the whole people. It should therefore be considered whether the European head of state, as the protector of European law and justice, should not also become the guardian of a symbol which, more than any other, represents the sovereignty of the European community.
Dr. Habsburg wants to see Europe have an elected head of state — a man elected for life. This influence of both Charlemagne and the Habsburgs hangs heavily over the new federal Europe. The crown of Charlemagne, the first person to attempt to revive the Roman Empire in 800 AD, is an inspiration to those who promote the breaking down of nation states, and a Charlemagne prize has been established for those who work hardest for European unity. One who did was ex-President Clinton, who in June 2000, was the first American president to receive the Charlemagne prize for his work in promoting European unity. He received the prize at the cathedral in Aachen, Germany, where the first Holy Roman Emperor lies buried. Clinton called for an enlargement of the EU to even take in Russia.
That many in Europe have been thinking on these lines for years is shown in a chilling quote from Paul-Henri Spaak, former Belgian Prime Minister and President of the Consultative Assembly of the Council of Europe nearly 50 years ago. He said:
More recently Jack Lang, then president of the French National Assembly’s foreign affairs committee, said that the EU
Attacking the inaction in European foreign policy, he said Europe needed a strong central government with a single “personality” in control. Students of Bible prophecy will have little doubt who this “personality” will be.
Babylon Is Indeed Being Rebuilt
When Britain issued a stamp to commemorate the first European Parliament elections of 1979, the picture on the stamp depicted a woman riding a beast.
According to the Rev. Dr. Ian Paisley, a Northern Ireland Protestant minister and member of the European Parliament, the woman on a beast is now the official picture of the EU. He points out that the multi-million dollar new parliament building in Brussels, Belgium, contains a dome with a colossal painting, three times life size, of a woman riding a beast.
In Strasbourg, France, the rival parliamentary building features a mural of a naked woman riding a beast. Likewise, the new Brussels headquarters of the Council of Europe contains a bronze statue of a woman riding a beast, and the beast is depicted riding on waves, just as in Revelation 17.
There are two parliament buildings for Europe, one in Strasbourg in France, and the other in Brussels in Belgium - both contain murals depicting this woman. And outside the Council of Europe Building in Brussels is a crude sculpture of this evil, scarlet woman, riding the evil beast.
This symbol of the European Union is printed on stamps, phone cards, and currency.
This poster which was issued by the European Union, showing the Tower of Babel and carrying the slogan: “Many tongues, one voice.” In case the point was lost, a crane in the background was shown rebuilding the tower. Above the Tower of Babel were shown the eurostars, but inverted, as in witchcraft, with the central points downwards.
In December 2000 they completed a new EU Parliament building in Strasbourg in France.
This is the original 16th century painting and below is the finished Strasbourg EU Building.
Mystical Babylon is now being rebuilt in Europe, and those who would follow Nimrod have now succeeded in building a parliament building in Strasbourg, France, whose centerpiece is an enormous replica of the unfinished tower of Babel. Even the secular press could not miss the connection between the old and new towers of Babel. They labeled the new French structure “The Tower of Eurobabel.”
"Most people don’t think about it, but the EU symbol was thought up by a Roman Catholic in honour of Mary,” says P. H. op’t Hof (Chairman of The National Foundation for the Preservation of the Political Reformed Principles). The Vatican newspaper, L’Osservatore Romano stated that the designer of the symbol, Arsène Heitz, said he had been inspired by reported visions of the Virgin Mary in 19th century Paris. The flag Heitz designed was adopted by the Council of Europe on December 8, 1955. December 8 being the date that the Roman Catholic Church celebrates its belief in the Immaculate Conception of Mary.
The European Union’s flag consists of 12 stars, inspired by the halo of 12 stars that appear around the Madonna in Catholic pictures of her. A former secretary general of the Council of Europe, Leon Marchal, affirmed that the stars are those of “the woman of the Apocalypse.” Enthusiastically he explained, “It’s wonderful that we have gotten back to the Introit of the new Mass of the Assumption. It’s the corona stellarum duodecim (the crown of the twelve stars) of the woman of the Apocalypse.”
The EU has confirmed that the number of stars will always stay at 12, which indicates that the stars do not represent countries. From a leaflet, “Building Europe Together,” which is given at EU headquarters in Brussels: “The European flag is a shared flag, blue with 12 gold stars symbolizing completeness. The number will remain 12 no matter how many countries there are in the European Union.”
The Burning Question, Where is America?
This was written by Ed Hindson before 1998:
There is much speculation around different scenarios involving terrorist and nuclear weaponry, EMP attack from Iranian cargo ships, etc (What is an EMP attack?). While all these scenarios are certainly possible, let’s spend some time looking at the most probable. Recent (and some not so recent) developments in America has already pushed her as a nation to the breaking point. Without any outside military assistance, America seems to already be at a point that has many prognosticators across the world predicating dire scenarios for the US.
Chuck Missler:
President Bush’s furtive positioning for a “North American Union” was anticipating a new common currency to replace the U.S. dollar, the Canadian dollar, and the Mexican Peso, called the Amero. Robert Pastor, the architect of the plan, had published 2010 as the target date for its introduction.
Many regarded this as ridiculous: it would take a major crisis: massive U.S. government debt; an unbridled credit expansion, the prospect of major property collapse, etc. However, the current crisis would certainly seem to fit the bill! Might this very crisis actually be deliberately engineered? If so, we won’t have to wait very long to test that hypothesis.
The real problem is that America is in moral free fall. We are victims of spiritual warfare: We have a media masking truth. We have courts perverting justice. We have schools deliberately “dumbing down” our youth. We have replaced our traditional heritage with “multiculturalism,” revisionism, and value relativism. We deny the very existence of truth. So our traditional patriotism has now been relegated to an obsolete form of idol worship.
Our government is now the purveyor of immorality. Why are we surprised? Governments have always loved crises: they provide the rationale for increasing budgets and bureaucracies, and subjugating the population. Most new dictators create external crises to consolidate their internal powers. In our country, they long ago learned that social crises serve that function as well as military ones.
There is one insight that supplies a key missing link: immorality results in social crises. Is it any surprise to learn that governments have an enormous incentive to promote immorality? Should we be surprised by the attacks on the family, the promotion of homosexuality, abortion, and other disruptive factors to destabilize and disrupt our society?
With America in its current shape and with all indicators predicting only a change for the worse, it’s not hard to see what the Rapture of the church would do to this nation.
The most likely reason America is not mentioned in end time prophecy is because it won’t exist. Literally, it won’t exist. It will be a part of the EU either as the whole of what was America, being a region or as different parts added to separate regions.
It may also be that the Antichrist, at that time, has changed the name of the EU to something better fitting a one world government (this being only a speculated possibly).
The Extremely Near Future of the EU
Scripture is being fulfilled today before our very eyes; we are witnessing the fulfillment of these ancient prophecies of Daniel. Europe has reunited into a revived Roman Empire that is expanding rapidly in size. IT HAS ALREADY DIVIDED THE WORLD INTO 10 REGIONS just as prophesied by Daniel. As it grows, and as national identities are de-emphasized the ten administrative regions will have a ruling body of 10 leaders under the Antichrist (who will remove and/or kill three of the leaders), just as Daniel prophesied (The ten toes of chapter 2 correspond to the ten horns of chapter 7):
40 "Then there will be a fourth kingdom as strong as iron; inasmuch as iron crushes and shatters all things, so, like iron that breaks in pieces, it will crush and break all these in pieces.
41 "In that you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter's clay and partly of iron, it will be a divided kingdom; but it will have in it the toughness of iron, inasmuch as you saw the iron mixed with common clay.
42 "As the toes of the feet were partly of iron and partly of pottery, so some of the kingdom will be strong and part of it will be brittle.
7 "After this I kept looking in the night visions, and behold, a fourth beast, dreadful and terrifying and extremely strong; and it had large iron teeth It devoured and crushed and trampled down the remainder with its feet; and it was different from all the beasts that were before it, and it had ten horns.
